This place is really great. I'm pretty critical of restaurants but I'll start by saying this is a five-star by Oakland standards. Excellent sauces and reasonably fast. Great alcohol selection. Good people. The owners work there and it seems like a good place to work from what I've heard. Packaging is biodegradable (I think) and simple.

Once you figure out how delicious everything is, it's hard to not order too much! The fried chicken is awesome. Never greasy, with a great texture inside and out. They let you choose flavorings for it, they're all pretty great but I think the umami dry seasoning is my favorite. There's plenty to eat with just the chicken and super fresh cabbage (eat it, it's good), but their sides are also fantastic!

Since not only the oil and chicken price but also other Japanese products and produce price keep going up, we will have to raise our price. But INSTEAD, we will make all menu items, except the sandwich and burrito, GLUTEN FREE!!! Our fried chicken itself has been gluten free since the day 1 of ABURAYA history, but now all fried chicken seasonings, salad dressings, all side dishes, etc etc are GLUTEN FREE as well.
